Have some 000 steel wool and a small jar of turpentine handy in the shop. Before using the router, bandsaw, jointer or table saw. Use the steel wool and a small amount of turpentine to remove the stain on the blade teeth. It will only take you 10 – 15 seconds each time but the blade will cut better and last longer.
For a bandsaw blade:
Disconnect the power
Rotate the blade in the opposite direction
Hold the steel wool against the blade
Brush it with a few full rotations
I have been doing this in the last few weeks and the results are pretty positive. So do try.:2tsup:

Thanks Wongo. Might try that.
Had sprayed hi temp silicone on the bandsaw blade but it still gummed up badly cutting green euc.

I think the key here is to do it every time. My router bits are now in top condition all the time.

ptc mate. I am not sure how many you missed. The last one was a Jarrah coffe table, then it was the the Karri Pine shoe rack, then it was the blue gum desk. :D
I am making a red cedar / Jarrah hall table right now.:2tsup:

Hi Wongo
I did not want to reply before I test it.
So, today I did and it works like wonder...one minute and I had clean blade...
But, it created another problem for me...SWMBO entered to the garage and when she saw me working with the steel wool, she said; "Oh, exactly on time, I have two pots...." and you know what was the end...:-
Great idea mate
Thank you
