My recently departed dad once told me how to double my money.
He told me to take out a dollar note, fold it in half and put it back in my wallet. "There, you've just doubled your money."
True story, and I've never forgotten it.

Young Robert was impressed upon by his father to save money where ever he could.
Robert was very creative, even for a Scott.
"Dad, dad, I saved half a pound today!"
"Well done, me laddie, and how di' ya do tha'?"
"I ran behind the school bus!"
"Ach, no lad, you're no son of mine. Ya woulda saved more if you'd run behind a cab!"
