sorry but two dumb quick questions .

my shower screen and vanity arrived yesterday so i intend to install them over the weekend .

should i worry about the four screw holes that will be made through the waterproof membrain when i pull up the shower screen to the wall (brick tiles wall ) ?

And what is the best way to hang a wll mount vanity to a brick /tiled wall the vanity is 750 cm by about 700cm high with a acrylic top . there is no pre made holes to do this and it did not come with any screws . And the instructions aren't worth the paper they are written on .

I was thinking about using four ram set plugs and four 12 or 14 gauge by 700mm screws and maybe a large washes so that the screw will not rip though the backing board .

will this work ?

any advice would be appreciated

thanks Rob

should i worry about the four screw holes that will be made through the waterproof membrain when i pull up the shower screen to the wall (brick tiles wall ) ?I would not worry unduly. I am waiting on the supplier of my shower screen but was advised they will just drill about 6 holes in the wall and floor to fit the brackets to hold the glass panels. It seems like they just drill though the membrane obviously and seal it up with silicone again.

Mine is a 1200 wide one with acrylic top. I drilled six holes(3 across the top and 3 across bottom) and used 100mm x 10mm dynabolts into the brick. Then I marked location of all the holes on the back panel of the vanity unit (chipboard)and drilled them. Got luck and it fitted perfectly. Very secure. They did mention an option of using silicone as well to adhere it to the wall but I did not do that - just sealed around it with silicone for waterproofing not support.

Cheers

Redoing the bathroom is about stage 10 of the never ending saga for me so although not there yet I will get to it one day. This will include a wall mounted vanity - I intend to have the vanity resting on a wall mounted batten (placed so it cannot be seen) with scews at the top and bottom. My theory is the batten will be taking the weight and will be 'firmly' fixed, with the screws just holding it in place to stop it tipping/falling off. That way the whole bottom edge of the carcass is supported with less loading on the material around the screw holes......just a thought
