Hi all, Im new to the forums (and DIY in general) I was wondering if I could get some advice concerning my problem (*stuff up*) :( when finishing my deck.

I used Cabots aquadeck as per the instructions, but a series of events resulted in me applying it to one half of the deck, AND THEN the other.

In pursuing this incredibly smart way of applying the product, I overlapped my two coats in the middle and now a dark patch is visible along the middle of the deck (the phantom second coat)
:doh:

Is there any way to fix this/improve the situation that doesnt involve sanding the whole deck back? Would using cabots deck clean to scrub the deck help at all? The aqaudeck was applied two weeks ago. Should I try applying a second coat on the rest of the deck around the patch to even it all out?

Feel like a real fool, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Rob.

Use nappysan and scrub the deck, followed by deck cleaner?

What have you got to lose?

I'd try applying a second coat to a small section next to the dark strip first, just to see if it'll work the way you hope without breakling your back. :;

You do want a clean surface to apply it on, but I don't know that I'd go to the extent of applying Deck Clean. Depends on how much traffic (and dirt) has been tracked onto it since you "finished."

Hey skew ChiDAMN, yeah I think I'll try that, and if it works, apply a complete second coat up to the dark patch. Fingers crossed! If not I may have to go the nappysan route.

I tried some turps on a small area and it pulls the oil off fairly easily, should I take that to mean the oil doesnt sink into the wood, but sits on the surface? Meaning the napisan method would be relatively easy (but time consuming) option? The backyard might reek of bleach for a while though...
