bowed wooden benchtop question

We have purchased a couple of oak benchtops to join in an L shape for the kitchen, returned the first ones because they were bowed low in the middle - variance 3.5mm, they have just delivered the replacements, opposite bow this time high in the middle by about 3.5 mm (no they didn't turn it over (hahaha!) they claim that it will straighten when it is attached to the cupboards and the join will be fine..... any thoughts? comments? advice?.. is what they say a lot of hocum?

It probably be fine I'm guessing. Stand on it when its on the floor and see how easily it bends. Its better that its bowing high in the middle , than low I'd say. Pull down nicely at the ends that way. Thats probably why they sent you that replacement.

the bow goes across the bench not along it and the cupboards are of the usual cupboard material - composite wood, I am concerned in trying to bring the bench into line that the cupboards will not hold and will crack

accross makes it harder I spose. But then 3.5mm doesn't seem like a big problem to me.

Have you tried putting your weight on it yet ?

I think the main problem I am concerned about is where the two benches join and having a ridge there. haven't put weight on it yet, waiting for some help lifting the bench it weighs over 40 kg.s

The only thing I can say is, if you can flex it well enough with your weight, then you should be able to pull it down that 3.5mm with your fixing no problems. No ridges. Thats just my opinion though.

But Its hard to be certain from here Jimmy.
