I am currently doing an extension on my old miners cottage and need to install about 10 donlights downstairs and 12 upstairs. I currently have 6 downlights in the kitchen and have had lots of problems with the old style transformers replacing many of them after two years. Can anyone recommend a better option, i have heard electronic trannies may be better but don't know of anyone who has used them. Are there any issues?

Use the new compact flouro type they run 240v (no transformer) they are also low energy consumption

except cfls aren't dimmable and still don't give the same quality of light.

I have installed hundreds of electronic trannies and so far haven't had any problems with them. Other than maybe one or two duds which didn't work from day dot they are great. They also help in globes lasting as most of them are soft start (ramping up to full brightness) not sure if they all do this but the atco actec and nelson ones all do that i have used. Just look on the box it normally says.

My opinion Atco Possums are the best!
