Came home from shopping today to find HWMBO with a new gadget in his hand. A high pressure washer. He had obviously been working in the justification for the expense for some hours as I was hit with the list of uses that the thing could be used for. Clean the car, clean the deck, clean the roof(which we need to repaint because of water and leaves sitting and rusting the crap out of), clean the outdoor furniture, .......Hmmmmmm?Clean the bathroom?

Noooooo!!!! As I wrestled him to the ground and managed to release his vise like grip on the trigger I could see that the thing had entered his brain and impregnated his thoughts with the mantra --"MUST CLEAN, MUST CLEAN".

Not an impulse I would usually quash, but also one that I have never heard before from the mouth of this man. I had obviously managed to break the connection as his breathing returned to normal and crazed expression gradually subsided with the aplication of a beer.

"Oh! Thanks. I'm glad you came home just in time." ----Also something I've never heard from this man's lips. But anyway, we are thinking of changing the plumbing arrangements so that he CAN clean the bath room with the high pressure washer. Maybe its the secret to getting bloke to do house work- get some powerful gadget to do it with. But then how come the vacuum does not hold the same charm as a "high pressure washer"?

Such are the mysteries of life.:oo:

(No water was wasted in the making of this drivel. Coffee blamed again for truth not getting in the way of good story.)

Did you see the episode where he 'upgraded' the icemaker in the fridge so he could shoot cubes across the kitchen to the living room? Priceless.

Must be something in the water, I'm in same catchment.
My HWMNBO has developed a mission to keep the kitchen clean and tidy over the last two weeks.
Even the stove top, every day!
first time in 27 years he's shown such zeal.
Midlife crisis?

Maybe he's just working up to asking if he can buy a new something-or-other. Or am I just being cynical? Actually HWMBO cleaned our kitchen last night too. Maybe there is something screwy going on.:oo:

I'm embarrassed by this admission ... but when I bought a pressure cleaner I *did* try to clean the bathroom.

What a mess! Spray everywhere. Water everywhere. And worse, it didn't even do a great job of cleaning.

Never again :)

Was that just after you got the shed vac? When it could still suck in a really satisfying power-tool kinda way?

My old shed never ever saw any type of vacuum cleaners or Dust Collectors. It very occasionally saw a broom - just ask anyone who visited it.

I have got a brand new DC for the new shed when it is built - after approvals - after owner builder certificate .........

If I didn't clean, it wouldn't get done right...

I was at the footy last season with a mate of my Uncle's who'd taken everything not bolted down outside to the drive and hit it with the pressure washer. His wife didn't even notice the screens from the oven hood were shiny when she got home.

Hmmmmm!! What's the proverb about learning from others mistakes. If there isn't one there should be.

But Eli's story gives me ideas. All those disgusting things like range hood filter, oven doors (what else could get into the corners?), Grill that still has molecules of first sausage ever grilled on it, ....Dunny?

see? lateral thinking. That pressure washer could be the best thing that ever happened to you. Just make sure he turns the clothes inside out before he washes them so he doesn't blow the color off 'em.

Well apparently you can fill a bucket and have the afore mentioned power washer sucking the water out of there. Actually takes quite a while to use a bucket o' water with it. And with another bucket placed under down pipe we have continuous water recirculation, as tis the roof he is cleaning. Triffic.

Well, Hubby has finally actually looked up the water restrictions and power washers can be used for construction purposes. Since he is using it to clean roof of loose rust so we can paint it with "rust conquerer" and silver paint it appears it is a legitimate use. Anyway, finished the cleaning bit now. Roof becoming more and more blindingly silver. Will have to wear sunglasses in studio as it overlooks roof. I guess dirt and leaves will tone it down soon enough and we have slowed the rust down somewhat.
The water restrictions do unfortunately mean that we can no longer just squirt the washing clean.:C

BTW, beware of pressure washers if you have concrete drive/patio type surfaces. the pressure can pit the suface and ruin a nice finish.
