Hey All,
I'm thinking about doing the downstairs master bedroom in the engineered pre-finished T&G solid oak in a pack they have at B for about $57/cube. This is solid wood and it says it can be refinished. Comes w/ a 20 year warranty, but looks like the company might go away when they run out of flooring. Not that I care.

I have (I think) oak upstairs that ends at the top step and I'd like to do the treads all the way down into the room. The tops of the new stuff are beveled, where the upstairs is flush sanded, but the color will match acceptably. Wife says go.

Any thoughts?
Should I go to a flooring place for the material instead?
What is this 'oak' really? Tas?
Should I buy a secret nailer or just rent it? I'd probably get at least one other flooring job in the next few years.

Thanks for the input. Hope everybody had great holidays.

engineered floors dont need to be secret nailed.

yes go to a timber flooring store.

chances are you cant actually re-sand it. check what the coating is made of. (if its aluminium oxide it is a now go.)

if it is a no brander, it may not even be oak, they just use a name that suits!
