Hi all,
I've got a polymarble shower base that i want to install on a concrete floor. My problem is that i have no access to the waste connections as soon as the base is laid in place. The base weighs 30 odd kgs and is difficult to move . The shower can only be connected to the waste pipe from underneath the base....anyone else had this problem?
Cheers,
jim

Yep. I had exactly that problem! Trying to manhandle a 32kg shower base into position from 1 edge, as there are 3 solid walls to the shower, was a right PITA.
The only way I could get it in was to make the waste pipe on the base of the tray as short as possible and increase the length of the pipe up through the slab as much as I could. Once I could be sure that the shower base, when fitted up against 2 adjoining wall studs, had the waste opening right over the waste pipe through the slab (put it in place without the waste fitted and checked it all lined up), I took it out, attached the waste grate and short section/coupling and spread my mortar and pipe cement. Bunged the base in place, 1 edge first and then basically dropped it in place as gently as I could. A bit of wiggling got the waste pipe and coupling to line up and connect, and that's all I could do! Let it dry overnight, then hope for the best really. There's no way to leak check it. Sounds a lot more awkward than it ended up, but I think that's the way I explained it more than anything else.
Can I just say that I am no plumber, and as such, this is only information, not advice! I'm only telling you how I did it..............:cool:

Tell me about it. I ordered the cheap acrylic tray, and when the guy handed it to me, I almost dropped it as I was expecting something much lighter. I then had to walk out the shop like I was expecting the more expensive one! I would normally have said something, but they had messed me about something stupid getting it in the first place, so I figured they owed me! :;
