Floorsanders in Canberra (Plumbers/Sparkies as well)

We are about to move to Canberra and have bought a house in Queanbeyan.

I am hoping to get the floors polished before we move in there. Has anyone got any experience with floorsanders in the ACT/Queanbeyan area?

Likewise I wll be looking for a plumber and a sparkie down the track if anyone has any connections feel free to pass them on.

Just a follow-up to the request for tradies in Queanbeyan.

We were blessed to have a forumite, Larry McCully (http://www.woodworkforums.com/member.php?u=10720) contact us to do our floor. Larry turned up a few times to offer advice regarding preparation and process, then turned up with his boys for a week to get the job done.

And we are extremely happy with the job Larry did, I have no hesitation recommending him to anyone within a coo-ee of Sydney. I have no pre-photos, maybe if Larry reads this he can post up a few, he may even be able to post up a few after shots as well. I only used a camera phone for the shots.

The front of the house was, we think, ironbark and had 3/4 mm gaps between every board. So we undertook to fill (three times) the gaps with a black/poly/lime mixture to create a shiplap effect. Sort of worked, aside from a crazy cold snap the first night. The floor looks a million dollars and somewhat oddly feels really warm/soft to walk on - it is a very strange feeling.

The back of the house was radiata, which I felt was going to be too bland to present well, so I organised for Larry to put on a walnut stain, whilst the stain looks great, for me and SWMBO it is too dark and we will probably get a few years use out of the floor and then replace it with a hardwood when we build an ensuite out there. I should point out the walnut wasn't Larry's choice, and everyone that has seen the floor loves it! go figure.

In the room outside, the floor was Baltic and being Baltic need nothing special apart from sanding and a coat - it of course looks great (no pics cause it is too cold to go outside) :)
