View Full Version : Plastic strips holding up Fibro Board

I am renovating a house that was built in 1980.

Inside, they have used 5mm fibre-board panels, nailed to jarrah stud frame.

At each join, there is a plastic strip about 5cm wide, nailed in place to cover the join.

Due to putting in a new sliding door and moving some stud-work, I need to source some of the plastic strips.

Does anybody know if it still available? and if so, what is it called and where would I get it?

If it helps, I can take a picture and post it here.

Cheers

Jayson.

Yep, named as Al said, cover strap or D mould are some other names it's known by.

Available in pine or hardwood in the Porta mouldings range, or PVC plastic by Icon plastics & others. At most hardware stores.

I found it on the icon plastics website, its called 38 x 6 mm Cover Strip Mould, exactly what I am after.

Will try and source a local distributor.

Cheers again.

G'day Jayson,

Just reading your post 9 days later, perhaps you have sourced your materials by now.

At 5 cm wide, its likely the product you looking for is SA104WHxxxx [x being the length in mm]. On the Icon website it looks "block shaped".

Look at this website www.app.net.au. APP have an online catalouge, the profile cross section of SA104 has the shoulders rounded and the underneath side indented like the icon CSM31 mould that is 38mm wide.

I can tell you the APP product has round shoulders so if you want 5cm wide cover mould to match give them a call.

They do cash sales at the warehouse door for bundles sizes but its worth asking if there is any split bundles, you might get lucky :) If he is still there Chris is your man. Tell him X says G'day, and that Im still retired!! [ I was Nat Warehouse & Distribution Mgr at the Manufacturing plant in Sydney 1999 -2004].

If they are not close to you they will at least give you a local retailer.
