Hi guy's,
I'm after opinions on what to seal external french doors with, they are solid maple and I've already stained them with "Sikkens" Cetol HLS in 'dark oak' (which looks great) now the big question - should I use an oil or estapol/urathane type sealer?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.:U

Hi Steve

I thought the Sikkens Cetol HLS was a sealer! ?? That's all I've used on my squiggled screen door, but it is way undercover and rarely gets any direct weather, and never any direct sun.

Confused

Three years ago I nearly bought a house in the next street instead of the one I have, had absolutely beautiful oiled timber windows and doors. Since passing on it I have seen the owner reoil three times. On the plus side reoiling is easier than sanding and estapoling.

Thanks for the info:D, the "Cetol HLS" is a base coat and stain, although some people do leave it at that point the doors are on the back of the house exiting to the backyard and exposed to the elements so I might go with the oil, I have to oil my deck every 6 months so it's no big deal and as mentioned I'd rather oil than sand and re-seal:doh:
