I'm wondering (Before I destroy a wall) has anyone had any experience removing one of these.
Haven't really looked yet but it seems solidly mounted.
I need to remove it.
I'm also a bit concerned it may contain Asbestos because of the age of it.

It's just like if I asked an electrical question on how to remove a three phase air conditioner that was still wired up you would tell me to get a sparky.
My answer is get a licensed heating contractor he will know how to do it.:D:D:D
No just put a mask on and go for it.:2tsup::cool:

Depends if it is flued or just set into a brick chimney. I think you can see asbestos rope around the glass set into the door. If there is a metal flue joined to the back there may well be asbestos rope wrapped around that to isolate it from any framing timbers.
I'm not sure what the protocol is for removing that sort of asbestos. It isn't Hardie flex and doesn't seem to be on the popular asbestos horizon yet. I know I have lived near similar appliances since I was a toddler and removed something similar as an adult.
Sort of like having sowed my wild oats, and now hoping for a crop failure.....
