Hi team I am thinking of painting the tiles and laminate in the bathroom room instead of retiling it. Is it worth to save up more and to re-tile the bathroom? Has anyone used this paint in a bathroom before?

I've used the White Knight tile paint to spruce up the floor tiles in my old loo, and considering it's not supposed to be used on a floor, it stood up to the wear and tear for about a year and a half with only a couple of minor chips. So I imagine that on wall tiles you'd get a number of years service out of it.

One thing to watch with the White Knight system though. The primer is water based but the top coat is enamel. You can imagine my surprise when I grabbed the roller with both hands under a running tap, expecting, as with the primer, it'd wash up in water...

Hi loose screw,

Have use tile paint in kitchen and bathroom

Kitchen 1" sq tiles excellent, looks great 3 years on
was very carefull will the prep and brush strokes

Bathroom 6" sq tiles, did round the bath ( shower over ) look alright for about 6 months, not so good with water and soap in contact all the time
ended up retiling the bathroom

It you go ahead, make sure the tiles and grout look good and clean,
With big tiles there is nothing to hide a blemsh in the paint job....
Also if doing in white it does seam to yellow slightly with age ( a couple of years )

Cheers Don

Sorry to jump in on your query Loose screw, but along with the White Knight and ESP prep, anyone that has painted their wall tiles, is it best to use brush or roller, water or oil based colour?

So far, I have heard brush and oil based paint.

Suggestions anyone?

I am looking at doing the same as Loose screw and want to 'postpone' the cost of the bathroom reno at the moment, as the rest of the house is 'under construction'.

cheers

Replacing the tiles is always going to look much better than painting, but if you're looking for something lift the appearance of the old tiles for a short time, painting them is fine. It's also a lazy weekend job that won't cost the earth.

I used a cheapo roller on mine and they came up a treat.
