I have a friend that has a permit for disabled parking spaces. And yes, he really does need the privalege.

When we go someplace together, I usually drive. I am willing to drive to the entrance of the event, then park in the 'Outback' and walk to the entrance of the event.

My friend insists that we use a parking space for the disabled. I don't feel right about taking up that space. I can do the walk and then someone that has a disability could use the parking space. We have had some discussions about this and he does get a bit irritated so I drop it. I don't really know how to get around the issue.

Well, I reckon you've got the right attitude and it's your car, so you'll park it where you want!

I agree with you as that is what we do with Mum. (Drop off and park some where out back)

His correct if he is in the vehicle.

If you are behind the wheel and have dropped him off then you should not take a disabled place as you are not disabled.

Yes it is your car and I applaude you thinking of others but you are denying him his right to have you park there as his driver.
Have you considered the issue of he may feel he is putting you out making you walk or that he has to wait for you to go get the car, time which he doesn't get to spend with you or not doing what you both have gone there to do.
Unsure of your friends problem could he feel vulnerable being left to wait on his own.

G'day Wheelin',
I reckon it all relates to use of the permit.....if rich's friend brings his sticker, then rich has the right to use the parking space. If there's no sticker or permit provided, then rich is right...and shouldn't use the space. My missus won't use mine for love nor money, unless I'm in the car.....with the permit.

Agree but he hasn't mentioned any sticker/Card If I go with someone else in the family I take my card.

If I take my nan out I use the disabled space to drop her off and get the gear out of the car, then I go park it else where. I desn't seem right to utilise the space when you don't have to- some people need it because they keep emergeny stuff in the car Ie ox bottles and medicines etc.

Rich
the permit belongs to your friend (not his car)
if your friend wants you to park in the disabled space, you are not a cheat if you do so

don't know about your friend, but within my extended family those who have a permit really shouldn't be left to fend for themselves while I go park the car "out the back"
