Hi,

Is there any specific distance a hot water service needs to be from a ducted heater of aircon compressor.

I am looking at putting it between my ducted heater and aircon unit. will have around 150 - 200mm gap on either side when installed?

I assume that your HWS will be a storage type. If so, bear in mind that this unit could "spring a leak". Is your air con unit enclosed (in a metal cabinet)? If it is then you may not have much to worry about. Nonetheless, the Wiring Rules only say this;

Access to easing equipment of pressure-relief and terminals of protective devices.
Every unvented water heater shall be installed so that the following are readily available for operation, inspection and adjustment:
(a) Easing equipment of pressure-relief devices.
(b) All terminals of the protective devices.
NOTE: An unvented water heater is one that is intended to operate at the pressure of the water system and the flow of the water being controlled by one or more valves in the outlet system.

Perhaps a plumber can give you a more definitive answer.

Yeah, its just your normal aquamax gas hot water service. Is there any regulations on the aircon compressor distance from a window or the hot water service?

no you can't put it there because of the flue outlets and the proximity to the gas inlet.

You need to call a plumber to find the appropriate location for this, as you can't be near a window either.

If you draw a scale diagram of your house showing all of you windows, eaves heights, appliances and drain points I might tell you where it can go.

I was looking at moving the hot water service to put in the ducted aircon compressor, will leave it where it is.

Is there any regulations on where the ducted aircon outdoor unit can go?

In SA I beleive the aircon must be no closer than 500mm to a opening window

The HWS rules still aplly even if the compressor is installed afterwards, you need to think of proximity to eaves, living areas, doorways, sewer inlets, windows, flues, fan outlets........................

If you can't put the unit in a position where it is atleast 2m from any of these things then you need to consult a professional.
