Hi All

Has anybody installed one of those remote door openers on a tilit door

should one go DIY or got somebody to do it ????

Not that dear about $500, but it come down to I want it done right...

And i am not lazy about opening the garage door, see the garage is the workshop, and trying to get somebody to close and lock it everytime they go out is a bit of a problem, so thus the remote door opener

Ps the garage is in the back yard which is fenced and has a remote roller door on the driveway, so it not open to the public

Cheers with a glass or two of red

Don

They're not that hard. I put one in about 20 years ago back when I used to install Tiltadors. They were a bit pricey back then, so not many people requested them. If it's the same as the one on my Panellift, there's a bar that mounts above the door and runs back to the unit which is bolted to the ceiling joists. The bar supports a chain which runs back and forth, depending on whether you're opening or closing. There's a catch mechanism that attaches to the top of the door and grips the chain. Bit of fiddling around but if you're handy, you should be OK. And this is one instance where it's a very good idea to read the manual!

Just had 2 installed on my rollerdoors. Would have done it myself except that there was no warranty on the units if I installed, however there was a 12 month warranty if installed by a registered installer.

They quoted 2 hrs to do the job, took 4 hrs as 1 bracket had to be moved and realigned both doors (they were tracking slightly out of square) and adjusted spring tension for me, all at no extra cost.

Doors are about 5 years old.

Not sure how the tilt a doors work, but for me, it was well worth spending the extra $120 to have it done.
