Ever had the problem of a damaged thread on a bolt that will not allow the nut to turn?
This is how I got around the problem.
Cut a slit down one side of a nut with a hacksaw completely through the inside thread.
Using an adjustable spanner run the split nut over the damaged thread a number of times.
Each pass of the nut will slice through the damaged area and refresh the thread.
THe nut is still good enough for most jobs but can be replaced with a new one at a later time.
Note: This also works to clean up threads that have been cut to length.
