Completed Bathroom Reno in old Qld

Hi everyone, I stumbled upon this forum only a few weeks ago when I was searching for ideas on what to do with our veranda flooring, such an awesome place I wish my Hubby and I had of known about this place years ago.

We are mid forties and already renovated one home, completly built one from the ground up (owner builder hands on, and I didn't have the time to take progress photos :no:) that took 7 years to really complete and a week after the inground pool was finished we purchased this place and moved in a month later.. lol (better location)

Oh well we've been here 8 years now and it's really another slow work in progress but a labour of love. I thought you all might like to see the Bathroom we just completed 6 months ago. Hat's off to Hubby as he does all of the construction building and plumbing. I do the design layouts, leadlights, painting, tiling and grouting. Neither of us are trade professionals, just have a passion to make things nicer.


Hopefully you can see we extended the bathroom out onto the enclosed veranda, we replaced the toilet, bath and handbasin and left the shower in the corner as it is still in reasonable condition, it's to the left of the hand basin (no photo)

Spa $1200 (bought 8 years ago)
Basin $150 Ebay
Pipes, plumbing, nails, and polyester $300
Toilet $180
Slate with grout $500 (still have enough for features here and there)
stones for backsplash $80
glass for leadlights $80 Doors $350
Pine shelves $150 Auction

Total cost to us was approximately $3000 plus our time

Thanks Namtrak, and no that's not me but Hubby and he does trim it occassionally but he hasn't been clean shaven since he was 20.

I think we'll leave you to your 2 bathrooms, our one was enough.. lol

That's a nice looking bathroom. All the design elements work well together. The lead lights, and sidelights look fantastic. I can see you've put a lot of thought into it.
I love the windows around the bath, and the jungle setting. Most bathrooms can't afford to have that sort of view, for privacy reasons.

Thankyou for the feedback Pawnhead and it's true a lot of thought was put into the design elements for the glass and positioning of the spa. It is now an extra large bathroom and since the toilet was in the original bath/shower room. I thought it essential to have the French doors to lock off the bath so the room becomes two rooms and is able to be used by two people at a time. The jungle view is contributed to planting I did 4 years ago. I simply looked for plants that would grow to 4 mtres or more, Palms and LillyPillys are great fast growers.
