<hr style="color: rgb(204, 204, 204);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> Hello,

I am designing a piece of furniture that i want to look 'raw' as opposed to oiled, however i still need to finish it. I have been told that you can finish timber furniture with soap flakes instead of using oil.
Thus far i have not been able to find any information on the process involved. Does anyone know of the process or can put me in contact with someone who does?

Cheers.

Lye is Sodium Hydroxide, I recently read in a book somewhere some tests using lye on cherry, from memory though it was used as a stain would be used to darken the cherry (although sunlight will also do this to cherry) not as the final finish.
