Hey all
I recently stained some Silky Oak with a water based analine dye and its come out patchy
Is there any way I can rescue the job without having to use chlorine to try and wash it off, or sand it?

silky oakshould not be patchy when stained
maybe you didnt sand it properly or maybe you didnt apply the stain evevly or stripdown enough.
i think your going to have to sand it right back.
what colour are yiu trying to stain it

Thanks astrid
I managed to get around it by going over it a few times with a very damp sponge
By the way the colour is emerald green

Don't know if this would work with silky oak but I usually apply a thin coat of shellac prior to staining, this tends to prevent the patchy effect of the stain in some timbers.
