Installing Dishwasher

G'day I'm just putting in an Asko dishwasher and have come across a couple of things I think I'll seek some expert advice on. Firstly there are 1/2" stopcocks installed connecting to a flickmixer but not a separate cold tap with 3/4" connection for the dishwasher inlet. I could use a 1/2" T piece and 3/4" nipple for the dishwasher but wonder if this is considered "acceptable" practice? It's an existing kitchen with reasonably new cabinets and I don't want to have a separate tap plumbed in to the copper pipe if it's avoidable.

The second thing is that the cabinet containing the dishwasher will require an inlet/outlet run of about 2500mm (more than comes standard with the dishwasher in other words), so I will need to extend both. The local plumbing wholesaler showed me the inlet and waste hoses they sold but to be quite honest they were of very poor quality. Maybe a heads up on better quality hoses that may be available in Sydney (and from where), or even taking the old ones off and fitting a complete new longer set if they are available?

From Reece you can get a braided washing machine hose and join the two with a 3/4 nipple, you can also get a drain hose which is a grey extendable one, join the two with a short bit of 3/4 pipe and hose clamps and do them up TIGHT! For your water a 1/2 threaded tee with a 1/2 nipple out of it and a washing machine cock. Good luck:2tsup:

Thanks mate. I used to use Reece in the past and found them really good. Unfortunately they're nowhere near Hornsby so I used a local...errr "supplier". Last time!!

The chap at Reece seems to think we can simply change the whole inlet hose as I suggested previously. I want to try to avoid joins if possible; just another thing to go wrong. Braided hose sounds perfect, I'll check on that. Drain I'm not so worried about, being low pressure.

You think even with the stopcocks it's worth putting in a separate one for the dishwasher? Guess other than being made up with fittings v splicing it in to the copper that would make it pretty much standard. At least with 3/4 I'll be able to slip on a hammer arrestor. I just tried to put a 1/2" one on the hot and of course no room to spin it on. Plumbing groan :C, give me electrons any day!

Pymble I think is the closest one to Hornsby, Thornleigh, chatswood and Artarmon also.

Yep, went to Pymble, really good staff. Thanks again for the help, I fitted the isolation cock to the dishwasher as suggested. The Asko dishwasher has the connection terminated internally and so needs an extension. I used a 1.5m braided hose.

I have absolutely no connection with Reece, but have found the staff there very helpful (credit where credit is due), both at Artarmon and now Pymble. Sadly not often I can say that these days so good on them!! :2tsup:
