removing linseed oil

Hi thnaks for reading this. I recently had pine beams sandblasted in attic, then spent a couple of weeks wirebrushing them and bringing them back to natural wood and they look great. Unfortunatley we were advised to linseed oil them with boiled linseed and after one was done we were devastated to find that they were really dark and deep red in colour and we really want to get them back to how they were before the linseed oil was applied. Does anyone have any suggestions for removing the linseed oil and getting it back to to the natural look it had before. Thank you.

Being, that the BLO is a reactive coating, it will not redissolve once it has cured.

You will need to purchase a heavy body paste paint remover to strip it off the wood.

Would an alternative be to bleach?

You must bleach only on the raw wood, if there is any remaining residue from the old coating the bleach will not penetrate into the timber.

Hi thanks for the advice it was much appreciated. I'm thinking of having it either sandbalsted again or simply wire brush fitting for a drill. Would this remove the oil as I am aware it soaks in ?
I am also aware of the mess sand blasting causes but it will be worth it....

Or do I need to get my protective gloves and goggles out again and some heavy body paste paint remover????? thank you.
