OK, I am finally about the start stage 2 of my deck. Pool is in (for at least 8 months) and now I need to extend my existing verandah up to my above ground pool.
Deck Specs are:
Basic deck size: 6.2m x 9m
Joists: 190x70 treated pine sleepers
Bearers: 190x70 treated pine sleepers
Joist spacing: 450mm
Bearers at 1800mm
Decking Mat'l: Spotted gum or tallow-wood, will depend on availablity and $
Going with brick piers also spaced at 1800mm as I intend to place a spa on this deck (somewhere), as well as extending a room of my house out on to this deck at a later stage.
Extension to have colourbond roofing, and approx. 4m x 7m in size
Spa weight filled, including people: approx 2700kg.
(equates to approx. 490kg/sqm)
Would anyone be able to provide some feedback regarding these basic specs, are they overkill, are they too small or would they be suitable.
I think I may have to relook at the spa position due to the loadings but any input would be approeciated.
I have considered using treated pine posts for some of the piers but by the time I place the room extension and spa on this deck, there does not seem to be many piers left over, so I decided to use brick all the way.
Any constructive input appreciated.
