Gday,
I recently bought a house which has carpet and i would like to have timber floors. The majority of the house has hardwood T&G boards. The problem i have is that part of the floor was damaged in a house fire some years ago and the builders just cut out the damaged boards and replaced with the particleboard flooring. The particleboard probably takes up 8 sq. metres. I intend to just replace the particleboard by staggering the new boards and cutting out a section of the existing old boards.
Do i need to get recycled floors as to eliminate the problem with moisture and expansion of the boards? Or can i get away with putting in new boards that may not have been kiln dried?
If i do need to get recycled boards are there any suppliers in brisbane that you would recommend?
The house was built in the 70's and its two storeys. I am putting the boards on the top floor
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
