Hi,

Due to a few circumstances(opening up a few walls in the kitchen), i'm going to put in a bulkhead around the kitchen perimeter to "tidy things up". However, the ceiling height of the kitchen is 8 1/2 foot, an the bulkhead section will drop to a bit less than 7 1/2 foot.

Just after any opinions as to whether this is a reasonable height for the kitchen bulkheads, or just too low?

Thanks as always.

I'm not too sure about the regulations, but from memory, 2/3 of the average ceiling height of a 'habitable' room must be over 2400mm ( 8' ), and no less than a minimum 1500mm. Non habitable rooms (bathroom/laundry) can go down to 2100mm.
Perhaps since part of the room is above 8' you'll be alright.

Edit: You could try sending a PM to a member here called ausdesign (http://www.woodworkforums.com/member.php?u=4325). He knows all the current regulations, and he's usually more than happy to give advice.
