My veranda post and bearer intersect at 90 degrees and need to be supported at the one stirrup. My question is how do I acheive this:
1). Mount the veranda post in the stirrup, then attach the bearer to the veranda post (using some bracket or hanger)?
2). Mount the bearer in the stirrup then attach the veranda post to the top of the bearer?
3). Install a second stirrup near the first to mount the bearer (given the bearer will not be visible)
4). Put a cross section type join in the veranda post and bearer so 1/2 of each is supported by the stirrup and each other?
Or is there a better way?

Answer usually is 1) with the mounting either a butt join using an L bracket or Pryda hanger or even mortise and tenon....or a face join (bearer face attached to post) using through bolts, coach screws or Type 17 batten screws....or....

Another vote for 1)
Put the post in the stirrup and house the bearer 20mm into the post. Attach with a couple of 10/12mm galv/zp cup head bolts.

Again go with option 1 (3 votes = unanimous)
Bolts make sure they are galv, not zinc, if it is treated pine
Option 2 is also valid, but not as good.

I'll be a dissenter and give the nod to option 3.

I've seen certain types of reputable stirrups fracture and snap. It has always been the type that has the thin circular shaft topped with the U shaped bracket. The weld under the bracket shears and cracks.

Thanks all.

I will likely go with option 1 - I assume the bearer will need to be mounted to the side of the veranda post to bolt it? Can I connect it flush with the end of the veranda post (ie inline), as I haven't see a bracket that will allow me to do that?

If I went with option 3, which might be just as easy, do can I cement the extra stirrup in the same hole?

Can I connect it flush with the end of the veranda post (ie inline), as I haven't see a bracket that will allow me to do that? Why would you want to? I reckon it looks better if the posts are a little bit back from the edge of the deck.

Bearers are generally 70/75mm thick, so if you housed it into the post 25mm, and housed the bearer another 25mm, then it would only project another 25mm anyway.
