I'm building a retailing wall on the boundary between two properties and on the plans it states, "Lay boundary brickwork overhand".

What does this mean?

I assume you have a double skin of brickwork.Laying overhand means to lay it from your side of the fence, not from your neighbour's.

Double skin

That makes sense

Actually, the way I probably should have said it is that you lay both skins from the one side. The skin on the far said is said to be laid over hand.
