View Full Version : Plank on Ply Versus Direct Stick

Hi everyone.

I had planned on going direct stick with the raw floorboards and then sanding and polishing them.

i was thinking this because i don't like the hollow sound of floating boards.

however i just found out that the floorboards that I love (at a friends house) are actually pre-finished plank on ply that are "direct stick" as well.

you wouldn't know - they are solid underfoot and are apparently "direct stick" as well.

my question is - what is the durability, quality of plank on ply like? is the equal of going direct stick with the raw floorboards?

I appreciate your help

i may be getting confused as to what plank on ply is!

have been to a few flooring places and seen these products which are pre-finished and have the ply attached to the bottom.

it is my understanding that there is still 10mm of the timber on top and then ply attached to the bottom.

this is what I am thinking of going - thoughts?
