Hi there,
when glueing up a table top, lets say, 1100 by 2000mm and 30mm thick, in Tassie blackwood, would you use Bessey K series clamps or are you better of with your normal sash clamps?
Regards,
Zelk

Surely, someone has some opinion on the matter!

zelk,
Not everyone logs in every minute of the day! Try again tomorrow for the answer you need!
Next time, remember to ask before you're half way through your glue-up!
If it were me, well my sash clamps haven't been used for anything sensible since I've had the K's. I can't imagine why they'd be superior to a clamp that provides perfectly square and even clamping pressure.
Note: I am an amateur, not a clamping expert, and have been known to complete jobs as you describe perfectly satsfactorily, using bits of rope, wedges and even a car jack.
Cheers,
P

Thank you for your reply Mr Bitingmidge,
The table top is a proposed project, I'm in rush to find more info regarding clamps for this purpose, as the Bessey deal on the forum is finishing tomorrow. I already have 4 K125 clamps and was wondering whether to buy 4 more for this project. Am I better of spending my money on sash or T bar clamps.

If you can afford the Bessey's, get them.
They are a lifetime investment, not a one project deal.
You won't need to buy the others in future either.

I use K bodies for everything practicable. I haven't had a sah out of the rack since I bought the Bessey's. My only trouble is I don't have enough of them.

I have amassaed some 200 odd clamps. The ones I use for glue ups are my K bod's for the ease of use. No juggling clamps, blocks and workpiece. Just glue up, place the work piece in position and place the K Body in position, clamping to moderate pressure. I have found that you do not need to squeeze the bejeezus out of the work piece for it to combine.

Thanks Pat and Outback.
Pat, if gluing a table top would you still alternate the K body clamps, that is, one above and one below as you would with the T bar or sash clamps in order to reduce bowing?
Cheers,
