G'day all,
I have a ubeaut mop which is mounted on a drill, and now that I've finally started to use it, the mop is grabbing the item being polished and sometimes flinging it out of my hand.
The grabbing occurs above and below the centre point of the mop.
I have tried the mop rotating towards me, and away from me. Same problem.
Does the mop need wax conditioning?
Would a table to rest the item on a bit below the centre point help?
Any other thoughts?

Are you using the side of the mop? This is what I get from your drawing.
I have always and only used the edge of the mop.

I'm no expert, but if you watch Neil use a mop, he reverses the direction of spin as he approaches the other end of the wood.

It happened to me too (using the edge, of course) and after a suitable number of colourful expressions (my first cherished little dish fell on the floor and broke) I just blamed my butter fingers and inexperience. How can we tell whether it's anything else?

G'day Rowan,
I'm using the mop facing the drill.........(from the side )....the fluffy edge bit.
I think its getting clearer now.........should I work as in A or B??

I would do it like A - so that the polishing direction is the same as the direction of rotation, not like B where the polishing action is the same as the axis of rotation. (Hope you understand)

You need to hold the item very firmly in your hands and have the mop rotating towards you, the trick is to find the balance point. It doesn't make any different if this is on top or the bottom or side as shown, as long as the pressure is straight on you should be right.
Mind you I have not used Ubeauts swansdown mop, most of my experience is from my polishing days as a Coppersmith but it's basically the same principle

I secure the work piece and use the mop in a hand held drill. Never had a problem.
As was mentioned, reverse direction when near the ends.
Watch the video of Neil doing it.
