I received a PM this morning & read it & replied to it but now PMs don't work.... is this part of the upgrade work that is going on? :?

Sorry about this folks but the PM System has been turned off temporarily due to some flagrant and inappropriate use of the system over the last couple of days.
This was only discovered this morning and the only appropriate step to take for now was to shut the system down. Don't know how long it will be off, might be a few hours, days or even weeks depending on what it takes to get around the problem.
It may come back on for short periods but won't be reliable. You should be able to read any PM's that are stored there so long as there are no more than 10 in storage but you won't be able to reply via PM for now. Just have to go back to the old ways.
Unfortunately stuff sometimes happens that's beyond our control. This is one of those times.
Sorry - Neil :C

Neil,
Not quite; I am getting a message that my PM box is 100% full, when it is not.

Rockler,
I am the same. That is why I assumed the fairy wand started with a proper word, but could not keep it up; most improper?:C
I was impressed with the emoticon concept, even if it wasn't accurate.
We need to watch wand-waving.

Looks like the quota for PM's has been dropped back to a mere 20.
Even though I constantly pruned mine back, I still have more than 20 I'd like to keep... so I guess I'll 'ave to dump 'em to HDD. Now, if only there was a simple one-click way to do this, w/out having to go into each msg one by one.

Yeah.
I had a little panic 'cos I have some phone numbers & book titles & other odd bits stored there & I thought I'd lost them. :-

There is at the bottom of the list of PM's there is three options for downloading the messages as either xml, csv or txt. I personally go for the txt and this save almost every pm I get.

I was using it as a handy way to store info when I traveled, I could log into it from anywhere.

Woohoo! Thank you, sirrah!
I vaguely recall trying something similar quite some time ago, but 'twas on a msg by msg basis. So I didn't bother trying further. :-

I saved the msgs to HDD but forgot to delete 'em. Deleted now, along with the dir structure I was saving 'em under.
Geeze, if Neil comes back with a "Sorry folks, I've restored the # of PMs" type message you'll hear my screams of angst from Cliff's place :o

Cliff,
If you saved them you can put them back again.
All you have to do is send a PM to yourself with all the details you want kept there.
Peter.

Or several PMs. I just tried doing that with the msgs I saved off (Thanks again, WB!) and it complained about it being some 30,000 chars and "please prune it back to 9000."
Still, if I broke it up into 4 seperate posts, that's all the info I was saving in well over 20 before things went aglay! :)
