I have purchased a very cheap 800mm(H) x 510mm(W) stainless steel 10 bar heated towell rail on eBay but am having second thoughts about whether it is wide enough since it would always mean folding a towell through the rails. I do not want to go to the hassle of installing it and find it is a pain. Has anyone here got one this wide and how do they find its use in a practical situation.

the ones I sawe in the States were about that wide and the towels were folded on them - they were always dry and yummy-warm! :D:D:D:D:D

I reckon you could easily do a dry (wet?) run with it leaning against a brick wall with a couple of towels to see if it dries Ok.

This size towel rail works really well.

Just watch out that you don't leave it on all the time though... They use a surprisingly large amount of electricity (Think of it as having 4 or so regular light bulbs on... You wouldn't want to be leaving them on 24hrs would you?). I'd go so far as to suggest you get a timer for the power outlet of some description.

Great touch of luxury during winter though. Enjoy.

Thanks Jeff I will install it. I have undertile heating to install and I think I will put them on the same timer and set to come on together about an hour before bathing time.
