Stumbled across these distribution boards on Ebay (see below). Obviously they're not popular, but is that because they are known to be of low quality, or because coming from China you can't trust them? Supposedly they meet the Australian standards. So what's wrong with them? They seem like a bargain, and therefore too good to be true. 1 x 12 Pole SURFACE MOUNT modular distribution board package, which includes the following items *1 x 12 pole Modular distribution board SURFACE MOUNT, includes earth and neutral bars and labels. *1 x Main switch DELIXI 1 Pole (100 A) *1 x 2 Pole RCD CDL7 Safety switch 63 Amp rated. *2 x 1 Pole 10Amp 6KA CDB17 Circuit breaker. *2 x 1 Pole 16Amp 6KA CDB17 Circuit breaker. *2 x 1 Pole 20Amp 6KA CDB17 Circuit breaker. *1 x 1 Pole 32Amp 6KA CDB17 Circuit breaker. Never heard of Delixi in 15 years of the trade. If you have the money buy seperate MCB/RCD's that way if the RCD trips not everything goes off.

Actually a mate spotted the el cheapo distribution board package, and is considering it to replace his existing setup in an old shed.
My new house (2years old) was wired up that way, lights and gpo's on one rcd. So yeh, not so good, because 99.99% of the time it will be a gpo that trips it, and the lights will go out for no reason. Would be even worse in the shed (stumbling around in the dark).

Says they have all the required standards but not sure what they are like though. Probably find that they come out of a factory that makes hpm or the like and they are just branded delixi. Thats pretty common these days.

Price sounds good. really it's just a piece of plastic with a DIN rail inside. Who cares what brand it is?

If you're a brand whore just load it up with clipsal breakers! :P

I saw the elixi store on ebay while looking for a single phase contactor with thermal overload. The price is good but wonder about the quality?

Yes I know.

A clipsal 12 pole enclosure is around $50 without the guts.
