Hello,

I have search the web for some guidance on this problem and found you guys. Hope someone can help.

A very small edge in a single floorboard in our 50 year old house has disintegrated. I have seen dry rot and white ant damage before but not sure what this is or who to call to inspect/fix if there is a problem? I have attached a photo. The house is on concrete stumps in a inner westerns suburb of Melbourne. A quick look around reveals no other similar occurances.

A pointer in any direction would be most appreciated.

Thanks, muskrat.

It wouldn't be dry rot. That's a fungus and you'd see it. It's not wet rot either.
I'm no expert, but that looks like ant damage to me. I'd get under the floor, particularly in that area, and look for their tunnels. Bash around on the timbers with a hammer to see if there's any damage.

There's a few pest experts here that might chip in with their opinion.

Cheers.
