Is the conduit and fittings used for electrical wiring glued like say plumbing PVC fittings? If so, is this the case for the HD underground orange PVC conduit and the grey conduit?

They are normally, but not like plumbing. Its a clear glue that is much weaker.. made by Stanley I think was the stuff I saw my leccie use. The idea isnt so much that the joints wont move EVER but more that they dont just fall apart.
The blue PVC glue (non-pressure stuff) made be suitable if you cant find that glue anywhere.

You can buy electrical PVC glue from electrical wholesalers. The main idea of gluing it is to stop the ingress of moisture especially on UGPVC.

Thanks guys, I'll call into my local wholesaler.
Other questions:
1 ) When connecting UG conduit can a fitting with a screw access plate be used? ie are they waterproof.
2) Where the conduit leaves the ground should a weep hole be made for drainage?

Emptybucketman,
Please note that if the conduit is intended for mains voltage cables, there are regulations and standards that must be adhered to. Consult your electrician for details if this is the case.
Screwed inspection fittings are not suitable for U/G installation and there should be no water in the conduit to drain.
Consult your electrician before installing. He may appreciate you doing the hard work for him but if it's not to regs it has to be ripped out and re-installed.
