Hi All
What is teh normal way to connect a handrail to a post? Is it as per attached with a tenon? If so where can you get the sort taht is shown in that picture.
Or is the better way?
Thanks.

Hi Again
Apparently there are 'connector bolts' for attaching the handrail to the posts these days ... but I still haven't managed to find what they look like or where to get them.
Any ideas?

Don't know about connector bolts, but I use tenons and 3 gal 65mm nails. Some just use nails. You can buy the tenons with an end precut to fit the groove.

Thanks Michael ... where do you get the tenons ... should they be at Bunnings. No one seems to know what I am refering to when I ask about them.

You can also get them from Bretts and Finlaysons up here, both have websites. As an alternative I used 25mm hwood dowel for a while and routed the handrail end with a 25mm core box bit so the dowel would slot in.
