wall insulation on weatherboard house

hi,
About to add some insulation to our weatherboard house from the outside, having removed the weatherboards. My question relates to the order in which the insulation and reflective sisilation should be installed. Should I put the insulation (batts) against the plaster wall, create a gap by using some type of string and then mount the sisilation on the outside? Also do I need to use porous sisilation?

create a gap by using some type of string NO. R1.5 batts will basically fill the wall up anyway and then mount the sisilation on the outside? YES Also do I need to use porous sisilation? YES - I thought all builders wrap was porous?

Actually the correct way is to have a vapour barrier on the inside with a breather foil on the outside. The reason for the vapour barrier is to stop the insulation from absorbing condensation from the inside.

Added Comment: You could just use plastic film for the vapour barrier, just staple it to the underside of the top plate and the noggin.
