I have just noticed that the join in my bathroom villaboard has a hairline crack. Is it something to worry about if I intend to tile over it (walls)? And yes I did use Easytape but that was before I found you guys. The shower area will have a one piece acryilic sheet so that should not be a problem. It is only on one wall where the outside is still exposed to the weather and of course it has rained before I got some cladding on. I could reinforce the join outside if it may help?

I would back block the join from behind if you are able.

Then you should be able to repair the hairline crack without it cracking again.

Use 150mm wide strips of plasterboard cut between the studs. Apply a generous amount of cornice adhesive to the entire back of the back block and stick it onto the join.

Make the cornice adhesive wet but not sloppy.

If you are tiling over you may not even have to repair the crack internally, the back block will prevent any further cracking.
