Hi All

Anyone know how much a redgum slab would weigh in comparison to a granite slab of similar dimensions?

Thanks

Can't help with comparison but Redgum is approximately 900kg per M³

So if my maths is correct a 40mm thick slab of 2m x 1m would be about 75kg?

That's not a scarey as I thought.

Just for the record I have found a site that says granite (20mm thick) weights about 60kg/sqm, so it's a lot heavier than the timber. However Corian only weighs about 26kg/sqm ...

Another site gives granite a weight of 2691kg per cubic metre, sounds about the same. That would make your 40mm slab about 215kg if I've done the maths right. I would have thought you would use 19mm material laminated to 38mm on the edge with a bullnose or pencil round.

Heavy stuff isn't it! But I guess it's only the equivalent of a couple of people standing on that section of the floor ... as long as you don't drop it on installation!!
