BBQ opinion - 3 burner or 4 burner

Hi all.

Tossing up between a better quality 3 burner or a lower spec (but same price) 4 burner. My main concern with the 3 burner is the middle burner sits directly under the join of the 2 plates. So Im wondering anyone that has a 3 burner do you have an opinion on whether this has ever been an issue for even cooking? or once the plates are heated (with lid closed) it becomes all good...

Or just be done with it and go the 4 burner.

We went down that track just before Christmas, got fed up with the big trolley and went for a Weber Q, cost a bit more initially but offer a nice even heat.
I like the way everything folds up inside the BBQ including the tools and there is a half hotplate (ceramic coated, as is the grill).
Despite the compact size we have cooked for 6 people without any problems at all and I love the eveness of the heat.
Ours with a fold up portable trolley, hot plate, tools and cover cost just over $600

I'd go the 4 burner over the 3. :)

I bought the Cordon Deluxe from BBQ's galore last year. Exact same BBQ as the pic. It's a beauty ! Very even in the heat and much hotter and faster to cook on than my good old hot rock BBQ, which died after 20 years service.

4 Burners give you more room for when you have the mob around. Get the 4 burner.:wink:

I bought a 3 burner, but only because of space.
It has fold away side tables.
I went for a 2/3 1/3 split. 2 burners under hot plate, and 1 burner under hot rock grill.
Works great, but in your case if space is not a problem I would go for the 4 burner, complete with side burner for the wok.

Depends what and how you want to cook. 4 burners gives you the option of 2 outside for smoking, which is brilliant. Go for the 4. :) Anyhow a hot plate on a BBQ is like cooking in the kitchen :rolleyes: so don't let that influence you. Ask Gumby. HE knows how to BBQ. :D :D

I used the grill instead of the hotplate this morning, and my eggs, tomato and onions went right through onto the hot rocks.:?

Now I have no breakfast. Only a mess to clean up.

If you plan on cooking for more than 4 people at a time go for a 4 burner.

We have a 2 burner from BBQ galore (with a gas stove plate on the side) and we can cook for up to 6, but space becomes a premium.

For the same price? Go a 4 burner.:2tsup:

Ive got a 3 burner - 2/3rds plate 1/3 grill rarely use the grill. The 3 burner is entirely adaquate for a 4 person household but a bit small for entertaining then I break out the webber Kettle anyway.

My next BBQ will be the plain old flat plate 4 burner on the trolly with the flat removable plate cover. Hoods are a PITA if you don't clean the living daylights out of them every time they're used they soon look like ... well you know..
