Decent kitchen cabinetmakers in Brisbane

Hello,

We are looking to do a large open plan renovation including a new kitchen. Our last one (IKEA) was installed by my father (a builder) but he is now interstate and they don't have as many options for corners and pantries. I liked the options on the Freedom Furniture kitchens (like deep cabinets and roll front cabinets, cabinets suitable for deep freezer and would like a continuous caesarstone bentop/splashback etc). I am only looking for a creamy white gloss cabinets and bondi coloured caesarstone benchtop at the moment. Galley or U style kitchen with large island bench.

Having read a few similar posts I'm a bit wary of losing money by going with them or a similar larger company. Can anyone recommend a good cabinetmaker and or installer in the Brisbane area where I can get a similar quality or better product. I'm worried if I go with a cabinetmaker I might get stuck with stock size cabinets/pantries. Am I mistaken?

Not all cabinetmakers use stock standard cabinets, we don't. We do

custom kitchens. How much do you want to spend? Corner cupboards are

easy to build as are pantries. I don't like corner pantries, they are

awkward, big to transport and they use alot of material. Get back to me

about your ideas.

I used Kitchens by Kathie at Virginia. Kathie sits up stairs and designs the kitchen for you, and her other half runs the workshop downstairs. Every cabinet made to size from scratch. Full melamine cabinets, including tops under worktop, and backs, so rock solid. Choose your own finishes, worktops and kickboards etc. Kathie will try and get whatever accessories you like.

Their usual method is to make the cabinets etc, you pick them up and install them yourself, which is what I did - easiest and best looking kitchen I've ever done - in 20 years on 2 continents. However I'm sure you could find someone to do it - and if you're really stuck, you can pay me to work weekends!

Have a look at Earl's ('sybarite' on this forum) kitchen (http://struming.com) company.

He has designed a range of modular and customisable kitchen cabinets called the 'Easy Build' system so your kitchen will be made to order just as you want it. You even get a CD Rom for the assembly and installation of the kitchen.

He is very knowledgeable and articulate about kitchens and he will definitely look after you. :2tsup:

I can second that recommendation to talk to Earl (sybarite). Happy customer here, although I'm yet to finish of a couple of jobs on the kitchen so I haven't posted pics yet.
