Hi
Just wondering about the pro's and con's for each type of flooring construction?
If a platform floor is used can T&G flooring be laid directly onto yellow tongue or does it need some sort of underlay?
Cheers,

Hi There, it is pretty common to go with platform flooring today. Yes you can glue and secret nail boards directly onto the yellow tongue. The other main advantage is that you have a nice flat surface to build on ... rather than spending month walking joists trying not to break a leg! :)
The yellow tongue is OK outside for 3 months. It will swell at the joins a little duirng thsi time but you just sand that down prior to the final floor covering installation.

One of the main reasons for doing a fitted floor is so the floor is not exposed to the weather, since you are putting down a particle board floor down first the finished floor will be safe. The finished floor will actualy be a fitted floor.
