I am coming down to Melbourne for a week as my family down there is throwing me a party from my birthday. The first weekend is booked for obvious reasons, but the weekend of 19/20 May is free.

I'd love to meet up with some other forumites:please2: So does anyone want to hold a BBQ or something on that weekend? In QLD tradition, I'll bring down some door prizes.

What subsurb will you be in???

dai sensei

I'll be in Ivanhoe, but I have access to a car, and can drive to most suburbs.

Mernda is a nice place, not too far from Ivanhoe, and you can check out the Craporioum prior to the clearing sale too.

I have a portable BBQ, and pleeeenty of fire wood.

I don't mind hosting a BBQ if no-one wants to be seen at the Craporioum :q :U and everyones up for a drive to East Warburton. Have a big block and plenty of space

Or mine, on the way to Phillip Island if the missus and kids want to see the penguins, superbikes and drunks............

Thanks for the offers guys.

Mernda is probably closer for me, but I also have to visit a friend out past Ringwood some time, so Warburton isn't so bad for me either. On the way to Philip Island is probably stretching my friendship with the car owner, so thanks for the offer Iain, but it looks like between Al and DJ.

I assume others would come, but if it's only me I can go to both :U , so any preferences?

Both Ivanhoe & Mernda are close enough so a bbq in Mernda sounds good
Keep us informed if any changes:2tsup:

I used to use Whereis as well and always thought it was pretty "cool" (as my grandson would say).
One day saw a map link that used Google maps. Haven't used Whereis since, directions are much better too. Whereis tried to send me through Ballarat to go to Mt Gambier from Bendigo! About 70km longer than the way I normally go.

Sorry I won't be able to be there, we'll be driving to Adelaide on Saturday, be there for 2 weeks looking after the 2 youngest g/children.

Hi Guy's,

Just being talking to scooter about a gifkins h20 jig that I bought to make some boxes as you do. Was wondering if anyone going to the BBQ has preferably either an A or B series template that I can borrow for a couple of days? If anyone is able to help out I can arrange for template to be couriered back to the owner.

Your assistance would be much appreciated.

Just trying to guage any interest in looking at some new/old stock Carb-i-tool router bits. The local autolec has a number of bits that have been sitting unsold for some years and is interested in quiting them at 50% of current retail price. If there is some interest I can bring the display case along and all can have a look. As it is a BBQ and not a swap meet it can also be left where it is.

I'd be interested in anyones response, there are a few rebate bits and so forth but at this stage have not had a close look.

Sorry about the fire Al, but glad to hear not too much damage. I have had experience with shed fires :-

Whilst here in Melbourne my mother has had me busy on the odd job or twenty. One of those was to remove an old dead red bottle-brush tree. Not that big, but it had a few branches coming from the bottom up to 75mm dia. Sure enough when I dug around it at the base, there was a 400mm dia x 150mm thick odd root ball :2tsup: . There is enough room in my suitcase for the root ball, sorry guys, but I'll bring the branches to the BBQ. More suited for the turners for pens and perhaps a pepper grinder, but like any pen turner, I hate seeing even small braches of good timber going to the tip.
