That site is a 2006 version so SP2 shouldn't be the issue. It works on mine. :?
here's the Windows info on it...

Outlook express icon
Another successful task completed, thanks,
Dare I ask what to do with this one.
I have a web camera (usb) and I plugged it into PC thinking that XP would find its drivers (old camera from 98 days)
However no luck, so I put it in the webcam supplied disk (which I should have done in the first place) AND i GET THE SERIOUS ERROR MESSAGE telling me to remove the usb webcam from the socket.
But no go, every time I put the disk back I now get the same message.
System restore didnt put thing right by going back to earlier settings.
Help help help!!!!!!!!

You mean you get the message only when trying to load the drivers from the disk or are you getting that message all the time now ?
You could check the camera manufacturers website for updated XP drivers.

Fortunately only when I put the disk in do I get the message.
Will try and trace the camera mfr., problem was camera came as a bundle from a now extinct computer manufacturer. (Time Computers in the UK)

Sounds like an incompatible autorun exe. It probably doesn't have the foggiest of how to handle USB2.0 and is having a panic attack.
How serious is the error? Just a failure notification or do you need to reboot? If the former, you should be able to cancel out of the error window and browse the CD to manually locate any drivers. If the latter, you'll probably have to disable auto-insert notification (ie. stop the 'puta from "auto-playing" freshly inserted CD's) before you can browse.
It does help if you know what you're looking for though... and many W98 era camera drivers weren't exactly standardised in the first place.
Either way, the odds are that anything supplied on that CD is useless and you'd be better off doing a search for a compatible driver by a 3rd-party . DriverGuide.com (http://driverguide.com/) is a handy source for locating these pesky things...

Yeah I am having to reboot.
I had a look at the disk in w/explorer but the icons dont mean much to me apart from setup which when used gave me the same problem.
But will try advices given and come back if I may if no luck.
