its my 1st post in this forum, found it very interesting.

after looking at different display homes, other half wants to have moulding around our windows.

i want to know:

if i can buy them ready-made or do have to order them. (windows are just standard rectangle nothing fancy)
how do you stick that moulding to wall around windows, i.e. any pre-mix available in market?
is it easy DIY or should i leave it to professionals to do this? what would you recommend.thanks heaps in advance for all your advises.

Hi there. Are you talking about a brick house?

If so, I think you can get those moldings made from Fibre Cement these days. I'm not sure what adhesive you would use but I'm sure there is an installation guide available.

I've never done it but I don't think it would be too hard ... you would need the righ tool to b able to cut that stuff though.

Try James Hardie or Boral or CSR web sites

Mirz,
Gday and welcome. Couple of Q's:
What's the wall made of?
What are the mouldings to be made of?
You need to answer these Q's in order to get an answer to your question.

Anyway, I guess you want to add the architraves like what is shown in the link you attached?

The mouldings are foam core and cement (3mm thick) on the outside. I have seen the installers cut it with a tungstun tip drop saw. Fill any gaps with external acrilic filler. f ix to the walls with nylon plugs and galv screws (brick walls). For other clad walls find the studs or use hollow wall anchors. Then paint to suit.

Don't force it. use a bigger hammer.

Hello mirz,There are quite a few companies producing lightweight mouldings these days.A couple of the local brick and tile display centres here carry them as do most building supply places.A mob called Unitex make some and I'm sure they would tell you where to buy,and how to install them, why theirs is the best, etc,on their site.http://www.unitex.com.au/

hello,

see: unitex granular marble (think www.unitex.com.au), ask for moldings

also: multitex, in preston should have similar

they are as described above, use anchor and glue into brickwork, they have cement outer which is just painted typically

thanks
