Appliance Retailers - Best Deal

Hi,
House renos going well.

We have selected the kitchen appliances and need to shop around. I want to package them all together to get a deal. I'll try Winnings, Harvey Norman and Bing Lee.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions of where to try? It would all have to be delivered to Sydney NSW.

Shop around for the best price then use a union shopper service or similar (e.g. the one you get access to if you sign up to choice magazine). Have used the latter and managed to save a couple of hundred on a fridge using them.

Try The Good Guys.
I have gotten good prices from them on a fridge and washing machine and they will usually knock a bit off the asking price if you pay cash.

The thing to do/ask is:
What's the best price you can do if I buy today - offer to pay cash if you need to secure a good deal.

Be prepared to walk away though if the price doesn't come down to a level you want to pay.

Aussies don't know how to ask for the best price possible, for cars they will as they will for houses but when it comes to smaller items people are still paying full retail prices.

So with this, go anywhere, the bigger places will have more of a mark up so they can move more with the price. Don't just limit yourself to a few larger places, you may be surprised who will try and beat whose prices.

I wouldn't necessarily package everything together to try and get a better deal. I tend to find if I do it item by item then I can get a pretty decent reduction as long as I am willing to put in the footwork.

We bought the white goods for our house after we horse traded between retailers for each item. And then when we had a good low price for everything we took that back to the retailers and said what else can you knock off if we buy the lot here. (remember to include GST and delivery)

I find it's the things that you didn't think about buying that you get caught on. Like a range hood for instance - they come separate so it's good to know the price of those.

Also it's good to know your sizes, capacities and motors. So you can compare apples with apples.

I firmly believe that any item in an electrical goods store can come down by 10% at a minimum with no detrimental effect on the profitability of the store. I will not buy at all whatsoever unless I get this at a minimum. I will walk out, and will do so for weeks until I get what I want at the price I want. I buy once and I buy good quality. I always pay credit card. Cash only gives an extremely small percentage advantage to a store. Merchant fees on credit card may be less than 1%. Anyway that's my experience.

Hi All,
I've just registered on the forum but have been looking on here on and off for about a year. Basically since I started renovating our house.
Anyway just thought I'd offer my 2 cents worth for anyone else who might be looking for a good deal on electrical appliances. We saved a good deal of money through Seconds World at Auburn in Sydney. Everything we've bought so far is brand new but was slashed in price, usually because the packaging had been damaged. The sales guy that we dealt with (Keith) was excellent....worth checking out if your in the market.....
