I will shortly be installing a Rayburn slow combustion stove in a relocatable home. I intend to lay hebal blocks at the rear and sides of the stove. I need to create a hearth for the stove to sit on. Can anyone suggest a product to use for the hearth. Both the hearth and hebels blocks will be tiled to match the kitchen.

If it is going to be tiled perhaps cement sheet (Tile underlay) is as good as anything, I think it is 6mm thick, which means you might like to add some beading or quad to tidy up the edges.

Hi Alison, (did I get that right?)
You need to check with Hebel (http://www.hebelaustralia.com.au/hebel/default.asp) regarding the suitablity of Hebel as a fireplace surround. I know it has a high fire rating but it would be worth double checking.
If it was me, I would be lining the inside of the hebel with at least 10mm thick sheets and the floor as well. And then on top of the cement sheet on the floor a bed of fire rated bricks.
Failing that you can get ready made slate hearths from any fireplace seller.
Either way I would be getting professional advice.

And a word from the wise, maybe instead of using your name as the title of the thread you would be better off saying something like "Help with fireplace Hearth?" etc I only checked out the thread because I thought it might be a link to a site or something like that... :) :)
