We're renovating the house and decided to put in an additional aluminium window in the bedroom.
The house is wooden weatherboard.
I've read plenty on the subject but has anyone here done it? How hard was it?

If it's to replace an existing window then no structural work would be involved and it's just a mater of getting it all weatherproof and looking good. If you need to cut a hole in the wall then you need to work out how much load the wall is carrying and fit a suitable size head plus tie downs if applicable. If the wall is a bracing wall then you will need to add extra bracing somewhere to make up for the bracing lost. It's not rocket science, but it does need to be done right.

Its really not that hard for those who have an understanding...it is hard to describe a how too, in the hopes that you understand enough to do it right .....I might suggest having a look at a home being built in your area, where you get to see the guts (framework) and how over each doorway and potential window this are supports above and how they are attached (200x50mm)..and the extra bracing on the sides ...this is what you need to do ......its not a matter of cutting a hole to fit the window ....but removing enough to fit the frame to support the window, you may need to prop up the roof while you fit bracing etc, and also to take into account that besides the extra materials needed you may need new weatherboards too, sometimes they split on removal .....does the wall in question have any electrical cable in it?, if so it may need to be re-cabled/positioned
