Making stains

I would like to make my own stains.Can somebody let me know how to go about it and where can I get the ingrediants like the pigments etc.

What do you mean by making your own stains?

I figure you mean you want to make your own colours. This is easy. I don't buy any standard colours, but just get the primary colours and mix them to the colour I want. Bit of experimenting and you can make any colour you want. The other way is to buy a base colour eg cedar and add the primary colours or reducer to alter the base colour to the colour of your choice.

But if you are talking about making stains from scratch, I will let someone else tell you about that, cause I failed chemistry http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/smile.gif

P.S. Most paint suppliers will stock the materials required either that or a chemical specialist.
